What are you doing here?
You on the couch with the phone in your hands, what are you doing here?
Have you ever been called out by God? Elijah’s pity party was over. God called him out of his dark cave(1Kings19:9NLT).
He asks the anointed Prophet, “What is a man like you doing hiding in a cave from an ungodly woman”? What on earth, would Gods most precious and valuable prophet be doing, feeling sorry and afraid. In a still small voice, that Elijah could here. God told him to “Go”, go back.
Get your butt out of that cave, remember my faithfulness, remember who you are, whose you are, and remember who is inside of you? Can you remember?
Can you shut down the pity party, and get back to the calling on your life? Are you so distraught, that you forget that I’m here, says God? God loves to crash pity parties. He’s funny like that. So many times, I sat alone popping balloons at a pitiful party I created because the opposition in my life was to great, or so I thought.
Seasons always shift, come out or come off of that dark cave or couch. And get back to what your supposed to do for Christ. Only what you do for him really matters.
Then the Lord told him, “Go back the same way you came, and travel to the wilderness of Damascus. When you arrive there, anoint Hazael to be king of Aram. Then anoint Jehu grandson of Nimshi to be king of Israel, and anoint Elisha son of Shaphat from the town of Abel-meholah to replace you as my prophet” (1Kings19:15-16 NLT).
Get back to business! God doesn’t allow Elijah to linger in fear, sadness, and worry. He lets him rest, eat, mope, cry, complain, and worry. And then its over. Get up, come out, and go back to what I created you to do.
God has a plan, delays and opposition will come. Don’t run, don’t linger in pity, get up, and go back the way you came. Elijah was already equipped, prepared, and anointed to do Gods will, he just forgot. He forgot who he was and who God was. Sometimes, it takes a quiet season of remembering Gods faithfulness, so that we can get back to our assignment or missions. Had Elijah stayed in that cave, he would not have accomplished Gods plan to destroy the opposition and rebellion. God may be using you or me, to raise up another generation of Leaders. And if your too busy worried about Jezebel, you may miss your shot at becoming a blessing from God to others.
Prayer and Memory Verse:
Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. (Ephesians 3:20 NLT)
